There's been a lot of negativity surrounding the new rules emphasis on contact in the defensive backfield.
Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran wants people to stop complaining about the rules. On Quick Slants he explained why.
"It should yield some consistency," said Curran. "In the past we've watched crews who'd let a corner do everything short of full-on assault. Then the next crew, the next week wouldn't even let a corner look at a wideout without throwing a flag."
Curran believes people should be excited about the changes.
"If you're a Patriots fan, you like this," explained Curran. "The Patriots offense is a timing offense.Pygmies like Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola are based on timing when they're coming off their routes. A little check, a little grab, a little pull sets them off and makes Tom Brady double clutch. They will benefit highly from the new rules emphasis."
"Relax everybody, it's just a couple flags."
