The NFL regular season is just around the corner and there have been some surprises in Patriots camp.

Kenbrell Thompkins has turned a lot of heads with his performance in camp and preseason games.

With every receiving spot up for grabs, Thompkins has quickly become a favorite target of Tom Brady, and that can only bode well for his chances of snagging one of those spots.

Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran points out that Thompkins' shorter reach and upper body strength allow him to break out of coverage quicker, getting him more looks from Brady.

Aaron Dobson on the other hand has some work to do on his upper body strength, the lack of which has caused him to get caught up just a second longer. In that extra second, a quarterback will find another option.

But the future is bright for both.

"They're two young good young receivers," said Curran.

* The Patriots need to get down to 75 players by Tuesday, and have some big decisions ahead of them.

Curran doesn't like what he's seen from Adrian Wilson, who had been expected to be a major force in the Patriots secondary.

Tim Tebow didn't see any action Thursday against the Lions and that can't be good for his chances of making the cut. Tebow has struggled by any standard throughout camp and has looked out of his element in game action.
