Curran: Pats downplay chippiness between offense, defense

Training camp got chippy Sunday, particularly when the Patriots offense scored during a goal line drill. There was plenty of verbal jabs tossed back and forth, punctuated by Tom Brady pointing out the defense whenever they got the upper hand.

"Because of all the contact, the heat, the repetitions, those are all important facts that contribute to guys kind of losing their tempers," Tom E. Curran said. "The other interesting dynamic you have to look at is the amount of personnel that’s new. You don’t want to be publicly beaten nor do you want to be reminded you’ve been beaten."

Naturally, the Patriots downplayed the chippiness between both sides of the ball.
