Curran: Pats "comfortable" with most of roster

The tampering window is ajar and teams are officially open for business.

Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran lays out the Patriots objectives and identifies some of their likely targets.

"The Patriots are basically going to cast a wide net," says Curran. "I don’t think there’s going to be a strict and urgent chase to go after one particular player. I think they feel comfortable with most of their positions on the roster right now."

The Patriots will work with Vince Wilfork to re-structure and possibly extend his contract in an attempt to lower his deal's average annual value.

Curran says there's also "a real groundswell within the organization" to re-sign Julian Edelman.

New England will likely target external options who can fill needs such as a pass rusher - someone like Jared Allen or Justin Tuck - and a safety - T.J. Ward or Donte Whitner.
