The weather outside may be frightful, but the Patriots and their fans can snuggle up around the fire and enjoy the spoils that come with a first round bye in the playoffs. The Patriots have secured a bye in each of the last four seasons.

Just because they won't be playing this weekend, doesn't mean the Patriots will be unplugging from football.

Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran says all of the Patriots he spoke to indicated they will be closely watching the Wild Card games this weekend.

The Colts will host the Chiefs at 4:35 on Saturday, and the Bengals host the Chargers at 1:05 on Sunday.

So who should the Patriots and their fans be rooting for?

"I think if the Patriots, or a Patriots fan had a rooting interest, they would want to see the Indianapolis-Kansas City Wild-Card winner come out with no injuries at all," says Curran.

If the Bengals beat the Chargers, and the prevailing thought seems to be that they will, the winner of the Indy-KC game would play the Broncos.

The Colts have already beaten the Broncos this season, and although the Chiefs went 0-2 against their Mile High divisional neighbors, it has historically been difficult for one team to beat another team three times in a single season.

The healthier the Colts and Chiefs, the better their chances to upset the Broncos and give the Patriots a chance to host the AFC Championship.

Who will you be rooting for this weekend?
