With Darrelle Revis in the fold, it's time for the Patriots to turn their attention to other free agent targets.
CSNNE.com Patriots insider Tom E. Curran breaks down a few of them.
Ex-Carolina Panthers receiver Steve Smith has a list of five teams he'd like to go to. The Pats are one of them.
"Steve Smith is a Rodney Harrison for the offensive side of the football," Curran said. "He's one of the most competitive and durable receivers in pro football. He is 34. He is a midget [listed at 5-9]...Will he be one of the players the Patriots want to marry up with, given his fiery temperment? I don't know, but I love him."
How about wide receiver Julian Edelman returning to the Pats? Curran thinks it'll happen.
"All in all, I think Julian Edelman will end up back here," Curran said. "Look at all the things he's done here, more importantly with this quarterback."
Ex-Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner visited the Patriots on Thursday and reports had him close to a deal with New England.
"Buy low," Curran said of Browner, who has had PED issues and will be suspended for the first four games of next season. Browner could see some time at safety, too.
