This is the game that's been circled on the calendar all season.
Patriots vs. Broncos.
Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning.
The return of Wes Welker.
Two elite AFC franchises.
Now that the game is practically upon us, Cris Collinsworth checks in to preview the matchup and break down the debate between Brady and Manning.
The question out of the gate: If you were starting a team, who do you take: Brady or Manning?
Collinsworth says there's no way to pick between the two.
"Tom Brady with his three super bowl rings has been fantastic and has had a great string of success on the biggest stage," says Collinsworth. "Peyton Manning has four MVPs and is probably on his way to his fifth MVP this season. So are we going to say that [Manning's] individual effort is greater than the team success that Tom Brady has had?"
One of the biggest offseason stories was Wes Welker departing New England to play in Denver.
Out went Welker, in came Amendola.
The difference between the two players is negligible, says Collinsworth, but the Patriots chose youth by allowing Welker to walk and bringing in Amendola.
Amendola missed time earlier this season, and now Welker is recovering from a concussion suffered in last week's win over the previously-undefeated Chiefs.
So who wins on Sunday night?
"I don't say anything about predicting this game," says Collinsworth. "I know over the years that these [Brady and Manning] go at it and it is a big show. And I certainly am not coming into New England predicting one team is going to win over the other. I've learned my lesson on that one before. No thanks."
