FOXBORO – So what in the name of Cedric Ceballos was Charles Barkley doing in the Patriots locker room Saturday night?

He’s an FOB (friend of Bill).
Barkley explained that he met Belichick when former NBA coach Mike Fratello was coaching in Cleveland and introduced Barkley to Belichick.
“Your friends are your friends no matter what,” said Barkley, who spent the game in Robert Kraft’s box enjoying the excess. “Everybody loves him because he’s won all these Super Bowls and had success. I met him when he was at (freaking) Cleveland. So I know he’s a real friend. We were friends when he coached for the Browns. When he got fired, I called him and said, ‘Hey man, you’re my friend, let’s keep hanging out, blah, blah, blah. Now it’s almost 20 years later. I don’t judge a friend by how many games you win.”
Barkley spent a few minutes jabbering with linebacker Dont'a Hightower about his Auburn Tigers’ win over Hightower’s Alabama team in the Iron Bowl. Then Barkley sauntered down to talk to Tom Brady and told Brady to “keep doing what you’re doing.”
Asked his appraisal of the Patriots as a franchise, Barkley said, “I don’t think y’all appreciate the ability to win. As a fan. Every time their season starts, they got a chance to win. I tell my friends, there’s like five to 10 teams every time you start a season, you have a chance to win. And because of Bill and Tom, every time the Patriots lace ‘em up they’re in the conference (freaking) finals. The last 10 years. More. They can win the Super Bowl. And y’all take it for granted here.”
So Barkley knows about playoff fatigue. And he’s not even from around here.
