Brady e-mail: ‘I've got another 7 or 8 years'

Share

When the NFLPA's lawsuit against the NFL -- including a lengthy transcript of Tom Brady's appeal of his four-game suspension -- was made public on Tuesday, so too were many of Brady's e-mails.

The purpose of introducing the selected emails to the lawsuit was because someone determined that they may have had some relevancy as it related to Brady's four-game suspension for his involvement in a football deflation scheme.

As it turns out, there was very little in the way of deflated football talk found, but the emails provide a small window into parts of Brady's professional drive and his business dealings.

Many of the emails exchanged with Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels -- perhaps discussing game-planning information -- were redacted. But there are a few other exchanges that involve Brady's perception of his own career, or mention other members of the Patriots organization.

Here are a few of the emails, beginning with one, via Boston.com, where Brady tells a friend that he may be able to play until he's 44 or 45 years old.

In the note, sent one day before New England's regular-season win over the Broncos at Gillette Stadium, 43-21, Brady reacts to a Grantland article that was sent to him comparing Brady's career with Peyton Manning's.

Thanks popa. I've got another 7 or 8 years. He has 2. That's the final chapter.

Game on

The following three emails were pulled by Deadspin.

Without proper context, it's hard to pinpoint what some of these emails delve into. But this one, from Patriots chairman and CEO Robert Kraft to Brady, appears to concern some payment that Kraft was scheduled to make to Brady's TB12 Sports Therapy Center. Kraft clearly feels remorseful if there was any kind of "misunderstanding."

Brady later follows up on the status of the invoice.

Hi there. I am sure you have been swamped. I am back in town now. Do you know if this invoice has been paid to tb12?thanks Robyn happy Sunday

The following email from Brady's business manager asks Brady to read an analysis from Business Intelligence Advisors, which uses certain methods "to analyze verbal and non-verbal behaviors that are reliable indicators of the completeness and reliability of commentary."

Whether BIA's work is as "reliable" as it claims is up for debate, but at least one member of Brady's camp was not happy with the results following Brady and coach Bill Belichick's initial press conferences after the Deflategate story broke.

You should read this prior to any interviews you do about this

Belichick has really dropped this in your lap just now . Don’t take this lightly.

Here's one more exchange, a lighthearted one, with NFL Network host and University of Michigan alum Rich Eisen. It shows that Brady was pleased to see the Wolverines hire Jim Harbaugh to be the school's new head football coach.

Below -- again, via Deadspin -- is a description of why these particular emails and others were chosen as relevant to the case.
