Danny Amendola can't escaped the comparisons to Wes Welker. Like it or not, Amendola is seen as the Patriots' replacement for the player who has become one of Peyton Manning's favorite targets in his new home in Denver.
The Patriots have missed Welker, particularly when you consider Amendola has been out with injuries and Welker continues to be durable.
"They've missed him more than I thought they were going to," Paul Perillo of "Patriots Football Weekly" said on "Uno Sports Tonight."
Ron Borges of the Boston Herald said it's pretty simple. "He's just a better player," he said of Welker.
Borges pointed out that Amendola had one catch in the second half of the Patriots' loss to the Panthers on Monday night. "He disappeared," Borges said. "I can't remember a game where Welker disappeared."
