Vince Wilfork will return to the Patriots with a reported three-year, $22 million deal, with only $3 million guaranteed.
On Arbella Early Edition, Gary Tanguay said that after Wilfork's ripping-down-the-nameplate-on-his-locker-tirade and asking the Patriots to release him, agreeing to this deal seems like a cave-in on Big Vince's part.
"Vince Wilfork got screwed," Tanguay told Trenni Kusnierek and Andy Gresh. "Vince caved. The Patriots suffocated this guy. He asked for his release and they wouldn't give it to him...He got $3 million guaranteed. That's an awful deal."
Kusnierek said it shows what the market was for a 32-going-on-33, 300-plus-pound nose tackle coming off an blown-out Achilles.
"If the reports are true if was that upset. I suppose it could posturing," she said "I suppose it shows how much he had to bend, but probably there wasn't a market out there.
Gresh said "it was a logical conclusion" for Wilfork to return to the Pats.
"Maybe the agent was allowed to sniff around a bit...," Gresh said. "Maybe the guy had a bad day and said bleep these guys I'm a legend around here. The logical conclusion is that Vince Wilfork ends up back here."
