Bart Scott: ‘There's nothing tough about Tom Brady'

Bart Scott played Tom Brady 11 times in his NFL career. Scott's teams won three of those games. It comes as no surprise then that Scott doesn't hold much love in his heart for the Patriots quarterback. In a conversation Damon Amendolara on CBS Sports Radio Wednesday, he went out of his way to make his feelings on Brady known.

Scott compared Brady to Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

"I respect Ben. Ben is a guy who can come sit at a table with any group on that team," Scott said. "He can go sit with the d-linemen. ‘What up, Ben?’ He’s like one of us. He had a defensive mentality. He has a tough guy mentality. There’s nothing tough about Tom Brady. The toughest thing about Tom Brady is his chin because it has the dimple in it, which is characteristic of most super heroes."

Scott said he paid Roethlisberger respect on the field that he wouldn't have paid to Brady.

"I don’t know if you’ve ever seen my hit on Ben Roethlisberger, it’s the type of hit that you dream of," Scott said. "He didn’t see me, he padded the ball twice, and I finished the deal. But, if you watch me, you see me, I slide my head to the left at the last second. That was out of respect for Ben Roethlisberger because I appreciate the way he played. I appreciate the type of quarterback he was. I appreciated he played like a man and never complained. If that would have been somebody else, that helmet would have been in the middle, it would have been a keel-shot. I would have a broke rib. I would have tried to break a sternum."

But he would have taken that kind of shot if he had the chance with Brady back in the pocket.

"Yeah, I might have had to take that shot," Scott said. "If I would have had the shot same that I had on Ben I would have taken a legal shot, but I would have made sure I did some damage. Of course. He was a rival."

Scott, who now works as an NFL analyst for CBS, continued to harp on Brady, who apparently still occupies space in Scott's head three years after Scott's retirement.

"Come on man, Tom Brady doesn’t think he’s tough," Scott said. "Gisele [Bundchen] doesn’t think he’s tough. Listen, I respect him, but he plays the game differently. No different from the way Peyton Manning plays it, but listen, certain guys -- Steve McNair, tough guy. He was a guy that could hang with anybody."
