Ben Volin of the Boston Globe joins "Uno Sports Tonight" to discuss whether or not the Pats defense has improved, or that they have just faced weak competition.

Co-host Michael Felger said his producer, Bill Walsh, pointed out that in E.J. Manuel of the Bills, Geno Smith of the Jets and Josh Freeman of the Bucs, the Pats have faced quarterbacks making their first, second, and perhaps last NFL starts of their career.

That changes Sunday night when the Patriots travel to Atlanta to face Matt Ryan and the Falcons. Can the defense step up?

"That's to be determined," said Volin. "They've done what they needed to do against three pretty horrible offenses."

One of the keys, Volin said, has and will be the Patriots pass rush.

"It supposed to be better," he said. "They're on pace for what they had last year, 37 sacks. It worked against these three young kids, making them beat you with their arms, but if they do that against Matt Ryan and [two weeks later] Drew Brees, they'll pick you apart all day."

So, the jury is out on the Pats' D.

"They haven't shown anything that says their not capable," Volin said. "They just need to do it against a good team."
