Amendola (knee, concussion), Hightower (knee) miss Patriots practice

FOXBORO -- With Julian Edelman out, the Patriots rode Danny Amendola against the Chiefs. He had six catches for 100 yards before being forced to leave the field with a concussion. He also suffered a knee injury in the game.

Amendola was listed with both injuries on Wednesday's injury report, and he was one of four Patriots not to practice. Dont'a Hightower (knee), Matthew Slater (hamstring) and Vincent Valentine (knee) also sat out.

Slater was sidelined for the season-opener, but he practiced all last week. That he's been downgraded to a non-participant is worth keeping an eye on. He was present at Wednesday's practice but he took off for another field for rehab work early in the session.

Limited in Wednesday's practice were defensive lineman Adam Butler, offensive linemen Cameron Fleming and Marcus Cannon, and safeites Nate Ebner and Devin McCourty.

The good news for the Patriots? They'll have three extra days to get over their injuries. They have a 10-day stretch between games whereas the Saints are working on a short week having played on Monday night.
