Rob Gronkowski did not fly to Cincinnati with his teammates for Sunday’s game in Cincinnati, according to reports.
Danny Amendola, meanwhile, is making the trip to play the Bengals. Gary Tanguay of Comcast SportsNet was the first to report.
The Gronkowski convalescence continues to be an enigma given his practice preparation over the past few weeks. His absence again will fuel speculation that he’s taking longer than the Patriots anticipated for him to get back on the field.
In my estimation, teammates’ patience is starting to wear thin.
Amendola, on the other hand, who tore his groin severely in Buffalo and didn’t have the area surgically repaired will try to make a go of it, apparently.
The wisdom of Amendola getting back ASAFP will be questioned if he exacerbates the injury or incurs a new one, but this isn’t his first time coming back in a hurry from something that would lie most other players low for weeks.
In 2012, he returned from a broken clavicle weeks ahead of schedule.
