Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski underwent surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in his right knee on Thursday in Pensacola, Fla., his agent, Drew Rosenhaus tweeted.
With Rob & Gordy in Pensacola. Good news the surgery is over. Dr Andrews said it went very well.— Drew Rosenhaus (@RosenhausSports) January 9, 2014
Gordy is Gronkowski's father. Noted sports orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery.
Gronkowski sustained the ACL and MCL injury on a hit he took against the Cleveland Browns in Week 14. There is no immediate timetable for his return, although Gronkowski faces months of rehab and being ready for the start of next season is unlikely, but not out of the question.
