Bills grab FSU corner Darby in the second round

FOXBORO -- Rex Ryan has been around some talented corners during his NFL coaching career. With his first draft pick as head coach of the Bills, he's hoping he'll have another.

The No. 50 overall selection, Florida State's Ronald Darby should give Buffalo a defensive back who can run with just about any receiver he comes across. One of the best athletes at his position in this year's class, Darby ran a 4.38-second 40-yard dash (second-fastest among corners), and posted a 41.5-inch vertical (tied for second among corners).

Darby has a good understanding of offensive concepts and he's played in plenty of high-profile games in his college career. At 5-foot-11, he has pretty good size, and though he doesn't have outstanding numbers coming from Florida State, that's partly due in part to the fact that quarterbacks wanted to steer clear of him.

Given Buffalo's strength along the defensive line, Darby won't be asked to cover all that long. But when he needs to plaster, it appears as though he has the raw tools to do it.
