It's a bye week edition of "3 and Out," where Mike Giardi of "SportsNet Central" and CSNNE.com Patriots insider Tom E. Curran identify three keys for success for the Pats in the second half of the season.

1) An embarrassment of riches on offense: Tom Brady should have his full complement of weapons to choose from once third-down back and pass-catcher out of the backfield Shane Vereen returns from a broken wrist in Week 11.

2) Firing on all cylinders: The play of Marcus Cannon on the offensive line was a bright spot among many against the Steelers. Can he keep it up against more challenging defensive lines?

3) Weathering the storm: The key for the defense is surviving the injury bug. "Remember those 'Three Stooges' when they were plugging leaks with wooden spoons?" Curran asked. Well, here's hoping the Pats' D plugs its holes (Vince Wilfork, Jerod Mayo) better than Moe, Larry and Curly.
