CSNNE.com Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran hits on three topics in this edition of the appropriately titled, "Three and Out."
Curran on DeSean Jackson's messy exit from Philly and new deal with the Redskins: "If you're our highest-paid employee and you're showing up late for meetings, sometimes giving lackluster effort and sometimes not being the best employee, do we want to continue paying you at the same rate, against the salary cap? Of course not. So, we're not going to overlook whatever off-field affiliations you may have and continue to pay you that money. We're going to cut you and make you someone else's problem. It's just a bad coincidence, I think, for the Eagles that all the bad-employee aspects of DeSean Jackson got rolled up into one single one, which was the team was concerned about friends that he had who happened to be in gangs.
On more Vince Wilfork trouble on the horizon? "So much of Vince Wilfork's 2014 salary is tied to appearances... If he's ready to play and the Patriots say, 'Hold on big fella', the two could be at loggerheads yet again because it could cost them a little bit of dough."
On if the Pats will miss LeGarrette Blount, who signed with the Steelers? "They have Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen, who can be free agents after this season. Brandon Bolden hasn't shown enough yet to be looked at as a guy you can trust for the long haul. It might have made sense to keep LeGarrette Blount in the fold for two or even three seasons but he got himself in a good situation in Pittsburgh."
