BOSTON -- The Bruins battled back to overcome a 3-1 deficit in the third period, and defeated the Buffalo Sabres, 4-3, in a shootout on Saturday at the TD Garden, sending the B's into the playoffs on a winning note.

Buffalo scored a pair of third-period goals to take a 3-1 lead midway through the third, but Tyler Seguin and Brad Marchand each found the back of the net, under three minutes apart, to tie the game at 3-3 and send it to overtime, and eventually a shootout.

In that shootout, Patrice Bergeron beat Sabres goaltender Jhonas Enroth five-hole, and Tim Thomas stopped all three shots he faced to complete the comeback.

The third period began in a 1-1 tie, after Brad Boyes evened up the game by knocking home a rebound on the doorstep with 4:15 left in the second.

Seguin had initially put the Bruins up 1-0, just 3:15 into the second period, after he received a perfect cross-slot pass from Bergeron. Seguin went hard to the right post on a 2-on-1, and Bergeron found him for the tap-in.
