McQuaid out for weekend, but no concussion

WILMINGTON, Mass. -- Teammates said that Adam McQuaid was more than a little stunned after getting plastered into the boards by Jason Chimera in the first period of last night's shootout loss to the Capitals.

The brawny blueliner won't be making the two-game trip to New York to play the Islanders and Rangers this weekend, but it's due to a cut over his eye that's swelled it shut rather than a concussion. McQuaid indicated that "he didn't feel right" to trainers following the loss, but he was present for the team picture on the TD Garden ice on Friday morning.

"His eye is swollen shut as a result of the cut over the eye, but there's no concussion," said Claude Julien. "He'll stay behind in Boston this weekend and we'll see how he's doing Monday."
With McQuaid out for the weekend and Dennis Seidenberg a question mark with an infected cut on his leg, Mike Mottau could be in for some active duty against both the Islanders and Rangers.
