B's Thornton makes cameo appearance in movie ‘Ted'

The show business rise of Bruins enforcer Shawn Thornton continues as he scored himself a small cameo role in the Major motion picture Ted that opened this weekend in movie theaters all across the country.

The comedy stars Boston native Mark Wahlberg as a man with a teddy bear best friend (dont ask!) named Tedvoiced by Family Guys Seth MacFarlanethat makes life difficult for him.

The absurd comedy was written and directed by MacFarlane, so it has all the same stupid humor elements of the MacFarlane-penned Family Guy that still end up making the audience laugh as they cringe. Thorntons quick role takes place toward the end of the movie while Wahlberg is singing badly on stage. The Bruins enforcer rushes the stage as an enraged berserker from the audience as boos begin raining down from the crowd.

Wahlberg slams the onrushing Thornton in the face with his microphone stand just as the Bruins forward gets to the stage, and then keeps right on singing. It's a little bit of a stretch to think the 5-foot-8-ish Wahlberg could take down one of the NHL's toughest customers, but that's what Hollywood acting is all about in the end.The best part: Thornton is listed as Crazy Guy in the final credits for Ted as listed on IMDB.com.

Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference was asked on twitter about Thornton playing Crazy Guy in a movie, and responded by saying thats what hes listed as in the Bruins media guide as well.

Theres no telling if Thornton was picked for the role based solely on his thespian chops or because both he and Wahlberg are good friends with boxer Micky Ward.

But that likely isnt too hard to figure out.

Heres a link to the scene with Thornton and Wahlberg while it was being filmed nearly a year ago.
