WILMINGTON, Mass.The Boston Bruins made what amounts to a clerical roster move on Wednesday as they placed winger Jamie Tardif, center Trent Whitfield, defenseman Garnet Exelby and forward Christian Hanson on waivers for the purpose of sending them to the AHL.
None of the four players were expected to break the Bruins roster out of training camp, but they would have been full participants in Bostons NHL camp set to start on Sept. 21. Instead those players now need to be sent to Providence for the opening of P-Bruins camp on Sept. 28, and must first pass through waivers over next few days before being able to prepare for Providence.
Twenty-one year old Jordan Caron is likely the only NHL player expected to crack Bostons opening night roster that would most certainly report to Providence for this upcoming season.
By virtue of his 155 games played over the last two seasons and the overseas options available to him should there be no NHL season, there appears to be no shot that 20-year-old Tyler Seguin will be suiting up for the P-Bruins should the hockey players get locked out by NHL ownership.
