BOSTON -- The Bruins didn't do anything drastic on Sunday after after dropping Game Two to the Washington Capitals. The B's stayed off the ice and held meetings, with a pretty clear emphasis on their top six forwards getting more involved in the offense.
The prime suspects -- Milan Lucic, Rich Peverley, Tyler Seguin and Brad Marchand -- addressed the media following their meeting session, and then the B's took off on a 1 p.m. charter flight out of Logan Airport headed for Washington DC.So after back-to-back overtime playoff games against a Caps' opponent that clearly means business, the B's coaching staff opted for some rest. Dennis Seidenberg is averaging just six seconds shy of 29 minutes of ice time in the first two games with someheavyduty minutesheaped in there. So it was a breather for everybody in Black and Gold. "I think weve played about eight periods of hockey here in two games. Were getting closer to three games in three days than two in three and I think getting off ice isthe right thing to do. I wouldnt be surprised if Washingtondid the same thing," said Claude Julien. "Youve got to stay fresh in the playoffs, its going to be a long series Im sure and because of that youve got to do the right things. "We needed to look at some things to make our team better moving forward. At the same time, you want to give your guys some rest and hopefully be ready to play tomorrow."
We'll have more reaction from the B's forwards shortly, but it's fair to say the Bruins arefeeling plenty of responsibility for the paltry output of two goals in their firsttwo playoffgames.
