Bruins announce ‘Black Aces' for playoffs

ARLINGTON, VAThe Boston Bruins have announced their Black Aces group of young potential reserves for the 2011-12 Stanley Cup playoff run now that the Providence Bruins has come to an end.
Defensemen Andrew Bodnarchuk, Kevan Miller and David Warsofsky and forwards Carter Camper, Craig Cunningham, Josh Hennessy, Lane MacDermid, Max Sauve, Ryan Spooner and Trent Whitfield will make up the pool of reserves Boston will choose from if injuries become a factor during their playoff run.
Bodnarchuk, Camper, Hennessy, MacDermid, Sauve and Whitfield all spent time practicing or playing with the Bruins at points during the regular season. Goaltender Anton Khudobin is expected to join the Black Aces crew once Tuukka Rask is healthy enough to resume regular duty with the Bruins as backup to Tim Thomas.
None of the players will join the Bruins in Washington, D.C. at this point, and will instead continue practicing in Providence now that the AHL regular season is over for the P-Bruins. Interesting in his omission is Zach Hamill, who finished the minor league season battling a shoulder injury after failing to impress with a legitimate NHL shot in Boston during the middle of the regular season.
