Patrice Bergeron is still looking at Europe as an option with Switzerland as the most likely landing spot should the NHL lockout roll on, but Bergerons agent Kent Hughes also indicated the Bs center might end up playing in a game for the Quebec Caravan League after all.

Hughes stated to CSNNE.com on Tuesday that Bergeron likely wouldnt play in the Quebec barnstorming league organized by Bruno Gervais and Max Talbot, but a Wednesday email to CSNNE.com from Hughes indicated that there had been a change in course: Bergeron might just play in one game for the Le Tourne des Joueurs (The Players Tour) as soon as this week.

Hughes indicated that Bergeron is looking to potentially play in the first Quebec Caravan League contest to be held Thursday night in Chateauguay, a suburb of Montreal. The game is expected to feature some of the best Francophone players out of work during the NHL lockout: Marc-Andre Fleury, Kris Letang, David Desharnais, Mathieu Darche and David Perron along with Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Alex Burrows, Derrick Brassard and Simon Gagne.

The Quebec Caravan games are scheduled to take place on a weekly basis throughout the Quebec province and tickets can be purchased at a cost of 20 with the proceeds set to go to charity. While the Caravan League should boast some good talent, its expected that eventually moving on to Switzerland would place Bergeron in a much higher intensity situation while staying prepared for Bs duty.

Hughes was careful to say that no agreement was in place yet between Bergeron and HC Genve-Servette in the Swiss League. RDS reported on Wednesday that was close to becoming a done deal.

No matter what Bergeron decides there will be an out clause in his contract allowing him to return to Boston once the NHL regular season resumes.
