FOXBORO -- Pete Carroll's energy symbolizes the Seattle Seahawks.
Earlier on Wednesday, Patriots coach Bill Belichick even went so far as to credit Carroll's personality to the way his team disrupts opposing offenses.
So what's it like to play for him? Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson says it's different. But at the same time, it's a thrill.
"It's unbelievable," said Wilson in a conference call on Wednesday. "I mean, the passion that he brings to the game, there's nothing like it. The fact that he brings so much energy to practice, so much energy to our meeting rooms. He keeps it loose, but at the same time, he keeps us extremely focused. He's a very good person to communicate with, in terms of, if you're thinking about anything or you have some ideas, or whatever it is. That's the great part about it all."
Wilson said that Carroll's competitive nature is addictive, and that it "means everything" to the Seahawks.
"He always talks about the 'always compete' idea," said Wilson. "We always have to compete, no matter for what it is. We're always competing against the other team, in terms of the film room and the weight room, or if it's at practice. You've got to bring that mentality to the table every single day.
"And you play a little game in your head. That kind of idea of, 'OK, I've got to beat this guy today, doing whatever it is.' Or, 'I've got to prepare the right way. I've got to get my feet right. I've got to make some plays today.' Whatever it is, it's the idea of just staying in the now. One play at a time, too, is another thing that we talk about. Just get after every single play if you can. That just heightens everybody's ability in the long run. And that really helps our football team."
