Welker relieved to not see Revis, doesn't expect to face Cromartie

FOXBORO -- Antonio Cromartie most likely won't be covering Wes Welker on Sunday. And it doesn't sound like Welker believes he will be, either.
On Friday, as the Patriots continue to prepare for Sunday's game against the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium, Welker described Cromartie as a "different" player, acknowledging that that's the reason the two haven't had much history with on another.
"Very rarely have we matched up in the past," said Welker before Friday's practice at Gillette Stadium. "Maybe a few plays here and there. But, for the most part, I think we're different type of players. He's a bigger guy, a longer guy, a faster guy. But he does a good job, good ball skills and all those different things. You've got to just run good routes, get open, and try to make plays."
Welker might not have to deal with Cromartie, but he for sure won't have to deal with Darrelle Revis, who suffered a season-ending ACL tear.
So is Welker relieved about not having to deal with Revis on Sunday?
"Of course," he said. "I mean, he's a great player. But they've got guys that are stepping up and doing a great job for them. And you've got to make sure you're on top of everything and running good routes, and doing what you need to do to get open."
