EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ -- Happy Thanksgiving!
New England has the holiday's night game, but the weather couldn't be better, considering; it's still nearly 50 degrees as of 7 p.m. Humidity is already high and expected to hit 82 percent before this game is over. There's so little wind (1 mile per hour) that the orange flags affixed to the goal posts aren't even twitching.
There's a whole mess of players on the field right now.
And, no, they aren't wearing throwback jerseys. Unlike the last time New England played in a Thanksgiving game (November 25, 2010 in Detroit), the classic red jerseys will stay home in favor of the standard road whites.
Jets backup-quarterback-for-the-time-being Tim Tebow was on the field early, going through his usual, rigorous throwing routine.
Patriots backup Ryan Mallett threw a few balls to Wes Welker before playing toss with Tom Brady.
Punter Zoltan Mesko, kicker Stephen Gostkowski, and long snapper Danny Aiken are doing their thing; Gostkowski just teed off from the 45-yard line and nailed the kick, dead center.
The Jets got together in the end zone for a team huddle before stretching. It did not look like they were saying Thanksgiving grace, though who knows.
Food, family, and football. The perfect holiday.
