Sure, it's just preseason, but they wouldn't play the games at all if there wasn't a point to it. The Patriots, for the most part, haven't looked great thus far. They particularly didn't look good in the loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, prompting head coach Bill Belichick to go off on just about every aspect of his team's play.
But even go back to last year -- as Mazz does -- and look at the teams they beat and lost to. There aren't a lot of great wins on that schedule, while they lost to a few solid teams including the Giants twice.
