FOXBORO -- Donte Stallworths first reception of the year came in the form of a 64-yard touchdown catch and run in the third quarter. His one-handed grab put the Patriots up 28-0 in and helped spring the Patriots to their eventual 42-14 win over the Texans.

Stallworth was cut by the Patriots this summer after spending training camp with the team. He said his first catch in his first game back was something the Patriots have had in their playbook since back when he was with the team months ago.

That particular play is something that we had worked on, even in the spring," Stallworth said. "It was just an opportunity where they were kind of flat-footed and it gave me an opportunity to run by the guy and Tommy Brady made a great throw. He put it up for me to catch it and thats what I did.

Stallworth talked about how meaningful it was to be back in New England with his former team. He played for the Patriots is 2007 season and scored three touchdowns during their perfect 16-0 regular season.

"Just being out here with the guys," he said. "When I first got signed earlier this week it was really good being back around the guys, being back here in the locker room with the fellas. Its been a good week. I wanted to come in and make sure that I was prepared. Ive been studying hard all week and I felt like I was prepared coming in. The coaches did a good job of preparing me. Patriots receivers coach Chad OShea, did a great job of preparing me and we ended up making some plays today and winning the ball game.
