Revis: Belichick is ‘disrespectful'

We're not even into mini-camps yet, and Darrelle Revis already seems to be willing to ramp up the Patriots-Jets rivalry.

On SportsCenter last month, Revis called Bill Belichick a "jerk" during a word association game. He explained himself -- and piled on -- Thursday.

I gave my honest opinion, Revis said, via the New York Daily News. You guys know me very well. This isnt the first time me speaking what I need to speak about something. I talked about the Randy Moss stuff Its just how I felt. Thats how I feel. I feel that people let him slide when he says his smart remarks (on) certain things. He says comments about us like he never coached here. He did. Thats just how I felt. So they told me to sum it up. I gave one word. He can take it how he wants. He can say (whatever) he wants to say back.

Even if he says something back, Revis added. Im not going to get into a jawing (match) with him. I said what I had to say. He still has to coach and I still have to go out there and play.

Hard to say why, but for some reason, Revis continued.

I have respect for him. Winning is winning, he said. But sometimes things are disrespectful. When you say certain comments about the Jets, some stuff is disrespectful. Its okay to have a rivalry. Its okay to compete. But when it gets personal, youre getting disrespectful. I didnt start this battle. The smart remarks sometimes he says are ignorant. Its ignorant to this organization.

Also ignorant? Not having full command of the word "ignorant." But that's neither here nor there.

Belichick isn't really known for talking trash. He rarely says anything about opponents other than to praise them. But it appears Revis was thinking of some postgame remarks Belichick made after beating the Jets last year.

I dont know Talking about the best defense they can suck my--All that stuff. Thats just ignorant. Why go there? You won fair and square. Hey, we shook your hand after the game. Well see you in New England or wherever in the playoffs, ok. But when you start saying stuff like that no it gets too personal. You dont have to say that.Did anybody else say anything like that? No not from our side. Bart (Scott) said his thing Cant Wait thing. But he still didnt disrespect. He just said that they feel like theyre better than us. Thats okay. He didnt say go suck--- go do this or go do that. Its personal. Its disrespectful.

And Revis didn't stop there. He had words for Tom Brady on Thursday, too. More to come . . .
