Report: Patriots release Barrett, Ventrone

The Patriots have to cut their roster down to 75 players by Monday afternoon, and on Sunday evening they began shedding players.
According to the Boston Globe, the Patriots cut two safeties Sunday: Josh Barrett and Ross Ventrone.
For a secondary that had several moving parts throughout the course of last season, things look a little more solid on the back end of the Patriots defense in 2012. The arrival of free-agent safety Steve Gregory and second-round draft pick Tavon Wilson have made safety spots on the Patriots' tougher to crack.
