The AFC Championship game is over but one more play is reportedly under review.
Tom Brady's second quarter feet-first slide will be given another look by NFL officials, according to ESPN's Ed Werder. The quarterback went to the ground at the end of his run to avoid a hit from Baltimore safety Ed Reed. But at the end of the move, Brady kicked up his right leg and made contact with his would-be tackler.
The Ravens cried foul after the game.
"You've got to keep them legs down," safety Bernard Pollard told CSN's Danny Picard. "You've go to keep the legs down. We all know and understand what's going on there. And as a quarterback, when you go to slide, we're taught ... we can't do anything. When you come sliding and your leg is up in the air trying to kick somebody, that's bull crap."
The decision to fine Brady or not will not be an easy one as intent is nearly impossible to prove. Officials ran into a similar situation in November when Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh kicked Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in the groin.
Suh was fined 30,000 when all was said and done.
But he's also a player who's racked up 77,500 in fines over the last three years. Considering Brady's lack of rap sheet and the NFL's penchant for protecting quarterbacks, the outcome could be completely different.
