Reed: Patriots' use of Welker may be just a strategy

FOXBORO -- Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed has watched the game film on New England, leading up to Sunday night's game against the Patriots. And his view on Wes Welker is both similar to and different from everyone else's.

Like most, he acknowledges that Welker has been used differently in the first two games. He just differs on the reason for it, implying -- in a conference call on Wednesday -- that the Patriots may be getting him the ball less in order to "prepare for weeks to come." And
perhaps, to set Welker up for a big game against a team like the Ravens on Sunday night.

"I mean, I see Wes catching the ball probably not as much," said Reed. "But, that's because he's throwing the ball to other guys that are open. So, I mean, it's a long season, man. And you do things a certain way, preparing for the weeks to come. So, I wouldn't read too much
into it. Wes Welker's still a great receiver, and I'm sure New England, Brady, everybody knows that."
