FOXBORO - Alfonzo Dennard allegedly smacked a cop one week ago.
Guilty or no, he paid the price during the 2012 NFL Draft. Dennard was selected with the 224th overall pick by the Patriots.
That's probably about 175 spots later than he might have expected to go if it weren't for that dustup.
Dennard is a compactly built, 5-10, 204-pounder who doesn't fly (4.54) and has 30-inch arms. But he's very strong and seems a solid slot cover guy who hits and can shadow and break on the ball. He's quick rather than fast.
Watching him in brief clips, he's similar to Sterling Moore in style who's a little too slow and stubby for outside work but is strong, quick and instinctive to work inside.
