Pats elevate Aiken from practice squad

JACKSONVILLE - The Patriots have elevated wide receiver Kamar Aiken from their practice squad to the active roster.

That puts the Patriots at the 53-man limit heading into Sunday's game here in Jacksonville. With Jermaine Cunningham becoming eligible to return from his four-game PED suspension on Monday, Aiken's elevation could be short-lived. Or someone else may be getting the gate.

At any rate, the 23-year-old Aiken is the biggest of the Patriots wideouts. He's 6-3, 212 and has good hands and competes hard. The skinny on Aiken coming out of UCF in 2011 was that he didn't have elite speed to play on the outside.

Given that he's passed through Buffalo and Chicago so far, that may be the case. He's well-suited to play inside, but as a long-legged, high-cut athlete, he's not as well suited for the quickness needed in there.
