FOXBORO -- Wednesday the Patriots announced the signing of defensive lineman Terrell McClain. Terms of the deal were not announced.
The 6-foot-2, 291-pound tackle is a former third round pick by the Panthers in 2011. He started the 12 games he played in for Carolina last season and had 19 total tackles, one sack, and a fumble recovery.
McClain was placed on injured reserve last January after spraining his knee.
New England released defensive tackle Marcus Forston the same day.
Forston, 22, came to the Patriots in May of 2012 as a rookie free agent. After being inactive for the first two regular season games, he made his debut Sunday night in Baltimore.
