Patriots place WR Stallworth on IR; release TE Shiancoe

Donte' Stallworth's 2012 season was short-lived, as he was placed on season-ending IR with an ankle injury on Tuesday.

The wide receiver made the most of his one game with the team, scoring a touchdown on one catch in Monday night's 42-14 win over the Texans.

That's more than former Patriots tight end Visanthe Shiancoe can say, who was released by the team on Tuesday.

Shiancoe was signed by New England in the offseason and thought to be a nice piece in Belichick's tight end-heavy offense. But he was placed on the injured reserve with a designation to return on Sept. 5, 2012 and wasn't activated until Nov. 10.

Shiancoe then played in four games and was inactive for one with the Patriots. He failed to record a reception with the team.

The Patriots also announced that OL Tommie Draheim was released from the practice squad.
