Patriots: Regardless of officials, bad calls happen

FOXBORO -- The hot topic on Thursday was the return of the regular NFL officials to this weekend's games.

A popular belief is that the on-field calls will improve. With that, would come a sense of relief among players and coaches.

But Patriots players, at least, have reminded themselves that, even before the replacement officials entered the picture, those "regular" officials still made some bad calls.

"I mean, no matter who's out there making the calls, there's going to be some issues," said Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo. "Like I said earlier, we're just not really focused on that . . . We're just focused on the Bills right now."

"Usually, everyone's complaining," said linebacker Rob Ninkovich. "When a flag's thrown, everyone's yelling anyways. So, it's something that you're going to have to deal with, no matter who's reffing. Flags are going to be thrown. We'll still deal with it the same way. Just play ball."
