NFL moves late-afternoon kickoffs to 4:25 p.m.

The NFL has made a decision that will give all of our channel-changing thumbs repose.

The league has announced that it will move the kickoff time for the late-afternoon Sunday games from 4:15 p.m. ET to 4:25 p.m. ET.

For the Patriots, their Week 5 home game against the Broncos and Week 7 home game against the Jets have both been moved because of the 10-minute change.

The change should limit the amount of flipping back and forth on your TVs between the end of 1:00 p.m. ET games and the late-afternoon games. But it's not all about our thumbs.

Pro Football Talk makes a good point:
Its an objective that becomes even more important, now that the postseason overtime rule has been shifted to the regular season. In theory, the early games can now last longer, encroaching more deeply into the double-header broadcast.

Regionally televised games will continue to be broadcast at 4:05 p.m. ET.
