Faulk to officially announce retirement Tuesday

During training camp, Kevin Faulk held out out hope that the Patriots may give him a call for one last run. That call never came, and so now Faulk has decided to call it a career.

The Patriots will host a press conference to formally announce Faulk's retirement on Tuesday at the Hall at Patriot Place. The announcement, to take place at 10:30 a.m., will be attended by Faulk, Patriots owner Robert Kraft and coach Bill Belichick.

Faulk was drafted in the second round by the Patriots in 1999 out of Louisiana State University and proceeded to carve out a career that made him one of the most widely appreciated players in New England during his career. Why? He won.

In his 13-year career, Faulk helped the Patriots win nine AFC East titles and three Super Bowls. He is the team's all-time leader in all-purpose yards (12349), return yards (5,041) and kick return yards (4,098).

This summer Faulk told 98.5 The Sports Hub that he was training to stay in shape in case the Patriots needed a running back during training camp. He said he had been contacted by other teams in the NFL, but he had no intentions of putting on another jersey.

"I don't want to play for anyone else," he said of the Patriots.
