Alfonzo Dennard is in court today.
The Patriots cornerback is on trial in Lancaster County, Nebraska for felony assault and two misdemeanor charges. Dennard was arrested outside a bar in Lincoln, Nebraska for allegedly pushing and punching a police officer in the head. He was booked on suspicion of third-degree assault, third-degree assault of an officer, and resisting arrest.
The incident happened just five days before the NFL draft. Once thought to be a second or third round pick, Dennard wasn't selected by the Patriots until the seventh round. He played 599 of 1,112 defensive snaps(53.9-percent)for New England in 2012, according to ESPNBoston.
Today's jury trial, documented by the Lancaster County District Court, is scheduled from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. The 23-year old faces up to five years in prison and a 10,000 fine if convicted.
