BALTIMORE - The Ravens family was rocked Sunday morning by news that 19-year-old Tevin Chris Jones -- the brother of Baltimore wide receiver Torrey Smith -- was killed in a motorcycle accident in northeast Virginia.
Smith has left the Ravens to be with his family.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh released a statement Sunday morning:
"This is devastatingly sad, sad news. Torrey and his family are a close, special family, and our hearts and thoughts reach out to all of them. Our hearts ache today. We pray for Tevin, his mother, Torrey and the rest of the family. God bless Tevin."
Smith's availability to play Sunday night is, of course, in doubt.
"Torrey's priority is his family. We understand that completely," Harbaugh said in his statement.
Torrey is one of seven children of Monica Chante Jenkins. Here is a story from the Dec. 26, 2010 Washington Post that talks about Torrey and his family.
