Belichick on Stallworth: He's really matured a lot

FOXBORO -- Donte' Stallworth has spent the last three seasons with three different teams.

And for Cleveland, Baltimore, and Washington, the veteran wide receiver totaled only three touchdown receptions. That's the same number of touchdown receptions that he had in one full season with the New England Patriots in 2007-08.

Stallworth is back with the Patriots -- for training camp at least -- and Bill Belichick had nothing but praise for the receiver who's had some off-the-field issues since leaving town the first time.

"I would say Donte' has really matured a lot, since he was here in '07," said Belichick on Friday. "He's been a very positive example and influence with what he does on a daily basis, but also some of the things that he's done with other players on the team. I think he's showing a lot more leadership. He's a very professional athlete. He really takes his job seriously, and acts in a professional way. He's a great example for, really, all of us, on a daily basis. And I'd say that's definitely grown since he was here in '07.

"He's been through a lot, but he handles himself very well, and like I said, very professionally. He's a great example for all of us, on a daily basis."
