Cherington: Sox probably won't sign a pitcher

WORCESTER -- While not totally dismissing the possibility of a significant starting pitching acquisition in the next few weeks, general manager Ben Cherington said the Red Sox probably won't make any additions before spring training.
"We wouldn't rule out adding a starter,'' said Cherington, "but I think it's unlikely at this point. We'll keep looking for ways to improve the team, including the pitching staff, but I wouldn't expect any major changes before the reporting date.''
Cherington made his remarks at a Red Sox Town Hall event held at the Worcester Technical High School.
The Sox continue to maintain contact with the representatives for free agents Edwin Jackson and Roy Oswalt.
Oswalt met with the Texas Rangers earlier this week and also has interest in the St. Louis Cardinals. Jackson reportedly has a multiyear offer from the Baltimore Orioles, but continues to talk with other clubs.

Brady lists suspects in jersey theft: Edelman, Lady Gaga, Game of Thrones villain

The case of Tom Brady's missing Super Bowl jersey got a tad more serious on Tuesday as the Houston Police Department's report on the stolen No. 12 was published by TMZ. In it, police estimate the value of the jersey at a cool half-million dollars

Brady clearly took notice.

Though he'd probably like to have the jersey back in short order, he took to Instagram on Wednesday to make light of the search.

His investigation seemed to lead him toward a familiar face, Julian Edelman, who he describes as a "sneaky lil squirrel."

To let his teammate know he means business, Brady pulled a quote from Good Will Hunting.

"Ya suspect, yeah you! I don't know what your reputation is in this town, but after that s@?# you pulled, you can bet l'll be looking into you!"

Mike Gorman handicaps the chances that Danny Ainge is able to make a trade, and also that the C's are in a great position being one of the top teams in the East plus a chance for the #1 pick.
