BOSTONWhen you look at the Boston Celtics this season, it's literally watching history play out every night.

You have future Hall of Famers, game-changers, guys that have transcended the game in ways no one saw coming.

It's only fitting for such a roster to take up shop with the Celtics, arguably the most storied franchise in NBA history.

Beginning today, we'll recognize different accomplishments by some of the top Celtics, past and present.

Today, we'll kick things off with Kevin Garnett.

In his fourth season with the C's, we have seen what a healthy KG means to the C's.

In 2008, they won the franchise's 17th NBA title.

The following year, he was out 25 games and all of the playoffs with a knee injury.

Boston got bounced in the second round.

And last season, still on the mend, KG still wasn't himself but that was more than enough to get the C's back to the NBA Finals where they came up short against the Los Angeles Lakers.

He missed nine games this season with a muscle strain in his right lower leg, but aside from that, he has looked like the '08 KG.

That KG can do a number of things well for the Celtics, including rebounding.

Which brings us to another milestone Garnett is approaching.

He is six rebounds shy of becoming just the 17th player in NBA history to grab 12,500 or more rebounds in a career.

To put it in perspective, he will become only the fourth Celtics player to amass as many rebounds in a career.

And one of those Celtics ahead of him on the list is current C's teammate Shaquille O'Neal.

It's hard to imagine that more than a decade ago, the lithe kid who entered the league straight out of high school, would go on to become one of the game's all-time great rebounders.

"You have to have something in you, something special about youyou have to have that humph in you, that's gonna make you become what you want to be in this league," Garnett said.
