Darren Dregger of TSN reports that Bruins captain Zdeno Chara has a phone hearing at noon today with NHL's Vice-President of Operations, Mike Murphy. They will discuss Chara's hit on Canadien Max Pacioretty.
The contact came late in the second period of Tuesday's game, when Chara's hit sent the Montreal forward into the rink's turnbuckle. Pacioretty was unconscious and left the game on a stretcher. Darren Dregger of TSN has reported via twitter that the Canadiens have confirmed that Pacioretty suffered a severe concussion and a non-displaced fractured 4th cervical vertebra.
Chara was given a game misconduct as well as a 5 minute major penalty for interference. The hearing will determine if there need be further repercussions for the Boston defenseman.
UPDATE: Chara told reporters after practice that he has not heard anything from the league. He also told reporters he plans on reaching out to Pacioretty soon.
