Michael Ryder's day with the Stanley Cup was more turbulent than he expected.
Ryder brought the Cup home to Newfoundland on Tuesday and, after placing it atop a small table outside a hotel in St. John's during an event, it tumbled to the floor as the table collapsed.
The Cup appears to have dented in the fall. The former Bruin and current Dallas Star was in St. John's before a scheduled parade in Bonavista.
Sometimes you underestimate those little things like Ryder's glove save in the playoffs ... and sometimes you just underestimate the importance of a sturdy table.
