The agent for Brad Marchand told CSNNE.com in a Friday afternoon email thatthere is no agreement on the immediatehorizonbetween the BostonBruins and his restrictedfree-agent client. There have been some talks in the last few weeks, but summer Stanley Cup plans and a shortoff-season have slowed progress on a potential two-year deal.Marchand conducted an interview with a Canadian TV station earlier this week, and reinforced his belief that a deal will get done with Boston at some point this summer. The Bruins announced on Wednesday that training camp will begin on Sept. 16, so now there's a firmdeadline date in place for both sides to reach an agreement on a new contract.
"Discussions wBruins are ongoing," said Marchand's agent,Wade Arnott, "but nothing is imminent - we continue to work toward a resolution."
